Why I Love Being a Wedding Celebrant

There’s something truly magical about standing at the heart of a couple’s most special day - not just witnessing, but helping shape one of the most unforgettable moments of their lives. Being a wedding celebrant isn’t just my job - it’s my passion, and it’s a privilege I never take for granted.

I’m Keri Louise, a wedding celebrant based in Yorkshire and the North East, and I’d love to share with you exactly why I adore what I do.

“Thank you for creating such a beautiful ceremony, just for us!
Everything was perfect!
And the Ceremony Tree even made it home in one piece!”

S&D

Every Couple Has a Story — and I Get to Tell It

No two couples are the same. Every love story is different - funny, emotional, heartfelt, and unique. I get to spend time getting to know my couples: how they met, what makes them laugh, what challenges they’ve overcome, and what dreams they’re building together. Then I take all of that and turn it into a ceremony that’s theirs - not a generic script, but something truly personal and meaningful.

It’s such a joy to meet a couple and hear their story told in a way that brings smiles, happy tears, and laughter. That moment when it all comes together - it gives me goosebumps every single time.

Freedom to Create the Ceremony You’ve Always Dreamed Of

One of the best things about being a celebrant is the freedom it gives couples. We’re not tied to traditional formats or rigid structures - instead, we get to create something entirely bespoke. Whether it’s a romantic woodland ceremony in the Yorkshire Dales, a quirky celebration in a barn, or something completely unconventional, I love helping couples make their day a true reflection of who they are.

From handfasting and personal vows to symbolic rituals and unique readings - if you can dream it, I can help you bring it to life.

The Connections I Make

Being a celebrant is more than just delivering a script - it’s about building real, genuine connections. I take time to understand what matters to my couples, which means by the time the big day arrives, we’ve already built a beautiful relationship. That trust and connection allow me to hold space for them on their wedding day with authenticity and care.

I very often stay in touch with my couples long after the confetti has settled, and that’s one of the greatest joys - knowing I played a small but significant part in the beginning of their new chapter. Stuck with me for life guys!

Yorkshire and the North East – The Dream Backdrop

I feel so lucky to work across such a stunning region. From rolling countryside and historic castles to coastal retreats and rustic barns, Yorkshire and the North East offer an incredible variety of wedding settings. I’ve met so many lovely local suppliers and creative teams, and it’s always a joy to collaborate to help bring a couple’s vision to life.

But I’m always happy to travel….somewhere hot would be delightful too!

It’s So Much More Than a Job

Being a wedding celebrant isn’t just what I do - it’s who I am. Every ceremony I write, every vow I hear, every moment I witness, reminds me of how powerful love is. I laugh, cry, and celebrate right alongside my couples - and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
